The Mask of Positive & Negative Emotion

Masks Emotion

Life in the UpSpiral…

That’s when we are most creative, most open to new ideas, and most in touch with and using our strengths to create.

We are only transformative in a sustained UpSpiral.

There is a genius in everyone if you identify your strengths and if you will maintain a conscious “weightiness” of greater positivity than negativity in your life.

Think about it.

Your goal is to LIVE YOUR SKEWED, WEIGHTED MORE TOWARD THE POSITIVE THAN THE NEGATIVE. That unleashes the genius in you and you begin to discover the zone of the “super you”.

You dream of it, why not do it?

Why not begin to build your brain in that direction? Everyone can, given the decision to do so.

Find your good and increase it by putting your energy there. Spend as little time as possible correcting weaknesses that will self-correct as you increase your good.

Most people spend most of their time going up and down from a little of an UpSpiral to a more and more DownSpiraling until that they have little hope and are satisfied with the status quo. Then the rest of life is spent wringing small amounts of pleasure out of the same old, same old.

It’s like having 800 stations on cable television and not really being interested in any of them.

Or it’s like living your life through the players on Monday night football because you can’t play your own game yourself. Are you satisfied with that, or does the booze just make it tolerable while you convince yourself you’re having a really great time?

Trying to convince yourself that life is really fulfilling when your gut tells you a different story is like choosing an “emotional mask” for the day, trying to convince yourself that it’s really you. Is it really news to you that this masquerade won’t transform your life but has the potential to send your farther down the Spiral?

Transformation happens when we are intensely “in our own skin”, living our own unique journey for the results we want in our lives.

From their success at it, those who have learned and practiced our work in NeuroPositivity know that there really is something to this business of remaining in and sustaining an UpSpiral. The ability to differentiate between UpSpiral living and DownSpiral living gradually became clearer and clearer.

In some cases they changed friends and surroundings, and they certainly became clearer about what they watched, listened to, and engaged in.

They became much more selective about what they wanted to feed their brain. Their brain food came under scrutiny. They moved from things that were unnecessarily negative, melancholy, and victim-supporting, to the things that feed a positive mind with new images, ideas, experiences, and even music.

Just naturally, they began to move away from things that were not UpSpiral things for the Mind and the brain; just look at the current negative media “loop of doom.”

They had long suspected that a persistent diet of negative news was not doing them much good, but they were convinced that they had to stay “informed.”  It was instead conditioning them to believe that it represented our world.

It may even be a little hard to believe that everyone doesn’t just “get” living in an UpSpiral. It seems to be such good common sense, even though you know better than that.

Isn’t it incredible that at this point, most all of your life has been spent somewhere in the UpSpiral, and comparatively little in the DownSpiral?

We wish it for everyone. We want it for those we love, and we’re even willing to do what it takes to help others to have the experience, or rather their experience, of what this journey is like.

NeuroPositivity is ready to fill a vacuum of emptiness or loneliness.

Do the work, and the “work will work for you.”

Here are my two take-aways from this article –

The first one is how important it is to make a conscious decision to live in UpSpiral as it will greatly enhance the quality of our lives. Here are just a few benefits of living in UpSpiral comapred to living in DownSpiral: we have full access to our strengths; we are thriving at a cellular level; our brain is happier; we are more likely to live in flow and have more “just this” experience; we have better capacity to “attach” to our wantings and desires; we are more alive; we are managing our vagal brake more effectively, etc. By making a conscious decision to live in UpSpiral, we are shaping our brain in such a way that living in positive emotions and feeling good become a norm. We are also able to create a buffer around us against negativity that would otherwise drag us down.

Secondly, when we live in UpSpiral we are more likely to have full access to our strengths; wherease in DownSpiral, we are more likely to use our weaknesses. Our strengths make up who we really are. In other words, when we see and utilize our strengths, we feel more “in our own skin”. That’s when magic happens — it helps us gain more clarity around what we truly desire in life (not the version that’s inauthentic or told by others). It also strengthens our capacity to attach and create the life we truly want. As a result, we feel more of ourselves and we love who we really are.

Living in UpSpiral is an effectiv pathway to optimal physical and emotional well-being. Your brain will thank you for making that decision.

I like and resonate with Dr. Larkin’s words: “Transformation happens when we are
intensely ‘in our own skin,’ living our own unique journey for the results we want in our lives.” “Being in our skin” means being authentic to me. We’re our best selves when we live out of our
strengths. Living life in Flow feeds our sense of well-being and our happiness. When we’re presenting our persona to others, they can’t really connect and we don’t get fed as who we
really are. The exchange is superficial and has little meaning.
When we are in a positive space and are transparent, not only do we feel good, but others feel
    lightened by our presence.
Happiness is not only a state of mind, as Abraham Lincoln says, but a way of life. When you first become acquainted with the skills and intentions that enhance happiness, you may have to stay conscious and direct your thoughts and feelings to stay “up.” After diligent practice, happiness
becomes the norm. It’s a bit like wanting to lose or gain weight. The experts tell you it isn’t a diet but a change in lifestyle. Looking at life with a positive perspective may need to be
your focus in the beginning, but it can become a new and lasting habit.
Check your percentages. Are you happy 10% of the time; 90%?
It may fluctuate in the beginning of “getting it,” but over time the numbers
creep up and eventually you only feel normal and good when you see the wonder
around you and savor the experiences that lift you. We would rarely leave our
home without brushing our teeth. I hope you rarely get up and move through your
    day without a positive perspective.
May you feel safe. May you feel happy and joyful. May you feel strong and healthy. May you live life with ease. May you feel loved and loving…. Everyday!

I gave up all attention to negative, sensational and exploitive media sources back in 2007. This works for me and I find I’ve not missed out on any so-called important information. As I continue to nurture my own self development: living my gratitude, love, peace = joy; I confirm my mission and purpose. At times I do wish to share this work with others, but realize as is stated in The 12 Steps, #12; “Shared the program and these steps with those who, demonstrated by their lives and interest, showed a readiness to hear them.” If another is not open or intrigued to ask more. I allow them to be where they are. We are all on our own journey – many paths and some have many more ups and downs.

This sounds amazingly similar to Abraham-Hicks – as does the blog post after…Pivoting. I’m happy you are sharing their work in this forum. Scientists are certainly more receptive to this than listening to Esther and Abraham – I hope we get there someday.

There is so much in this blog that resonates with me as far as my journey to deepen and strengthen my UpSpiral.

Like a “Captain of the Ship,” I have been learning to “lean” more and more each day towards positive neuroplasticity. In addition, I am in constant awe and full of gratitude for this gift. WHY? I’ve learned that it is a joy and a miracle to notice the many changes in my mindset such as….1) more easily recognizing negative thoughts seeping in and remembering to pulse a positive emotion—resulting in a shift in the trajectory of my days, 2) increasing my awareness of negative news and consciously choosing resources to feed my brain, 3) being more mindful of UpSpiral and DownSpiral interactions and “starting from within” to positively affect my own health and others around me, 4) lastly, pivoting to a strength (or two) to create my day and to find answers to questions that I can best answer—on my own. Despite the challenges of transition and growth, life in an UpSpiral is empowering.

As stated in the blog, I continue to wish this for everyone I love and care for. I continue to wish this for all those I serve in my role as a career coach and interview consultant.
